Skylands Sharpening Co. — Service Policies

Pickup & Delivery
Skylands Sharpening Co. offers convenient, contactless pickup and delivery throughout Morris and Sussex Counties.

  • Free pickup and delivery within 20 miles of Lake Hopatcong (07849). (Morristown included!)
  • $10 travel fee for locations beyond that distance, up to 30 miles.
  • Items should be bagged or boxed, labeled, and left in your designated safe spot by 9 AM on your scheduled pickup day.
  • Sharpening turnaround is typically 24–48 hours, depending on workload.
  • We’ll text you when your order is complete to confirm a delivery window.

Payment
Payment is due at drop-off and can be made by:

  • Cash
  • Venmo (@Michael-Pabian)

Invoice/ detailed price list will be provided on delivery outlining exactly what services were provided. The price list will match the current pricing on our website at time of order. Pricing list is subject to change over time.
At this time, we do not accept credit cards or online payments. Subject to change.

Our Sharpness Guarantee
Every knife and tool we sharpen is hand-finished, inspected, and tested before delivery.
We stand behind our craftsmanship with a straightforward promise:

“If you’re not satisfied with the sharpness of your knife, contact us within 7 days of drop-off and we’ll re-sharpen it at no cost.”

What’s Covered

  • Craftsmanship and edge quality at the time of return.
  • Free re-sharpening or edge adjustment within 7 days.

What’s Not Covered

  • Normal dulling from regular use.
  • Damage from prying, chipping, or misuse.
  • Rust or corrosion developing after delivery.
  • Pre-existing damage noted at pickup.

We believe in old-fashioned service — if something doesn’t feel right, we’ll make it right.

Care & Use Tips

  • Avoid cutting on glass, stone, or ceramic surfaces.
  • Hand wash and dry knives after use; avoid the dishwasher.
  • Use a honing strop or steel between sharpenings to maintain alignment.

Proper care helps extend your edge life and keeps your guarantee valid.

Scheduling & Communication
We communicate primarily by text for confirmations and delivery updates.
If your schedule changes, please give us at least 12 hours’ notice to reschedule.
Our pickup routes are planned by area, so we appreciate your flexibility.
